This episode title should be, “I only said four words by the time I was four years old”. I didn't even put sentences together. My parents were concerned for me. They didn't know what to say. It was bad, but guess what? I don't remember. My mom was a special ed teacher. I was fortunate enough to have somebody who just knew that it would just take time. I would find my voice and yeah, I sure did. I remember my mom asked me to come to class to share my story. By then, I had gone off to college and got a job in radio. Broadcasting meant a lot of time on stage in front of a hundred thousand people with a mic. I said, absolutely I'd love to. I remember looking at the people in the class saying to myself, I was like that and there's nothing wrong.

It just takes some time for us to find our voice. It's not always going to be perfect. I've made tons of mistakes with my voice. I've said things that I wish I could swallow back. I try my best to clean up my mess. But the most important thing is to find your voice and then share that voice with the world.

The reason why this title is, I only said four words by the time I was four is because I don't let my past dictate who I am in the present moment. I don't allow it to create my future. Our past is nothing more than a reflection of where we come from, something to review, to acknowledge, to learn from, to gain insight. Don't allow your past, no matter if it was good or bad or ugly to stop you from creating your future in this present moment.

Here are three takeaways:
1. It’s okay if you bloom late, as long as you bloom.
2. Find your voice and use it to help others do the same.
3. There is nothing you can't do. Don’t let anyone’s judgment hide that truth.

As I'm doing these episodes, it just brings so much clarity because the listener, I want you to go on the journey too. I mean, what do you need to do to find your voice? Maybe, you say to yourself, I could do this podcast. Maybe I should go for it. I remember launching a podcast on a Friday and all of a sudden by Monday I had three episodes. I put it out on the internet and it wasn't like anything great. It was just that I wasn't going to allow the voice in my head anymore to win. I wanted to do something with it and get it out as fast as I possibly could. I've been podcasting for about five years and I love it.

Who would have thought that a kid who didn't speak ended up going on to have a career in radio? That's where I met Amber, my wife. She walked into a bar one night… and there are many great stories to come this season about. When we look back, we gain valuable insight into what we can do.

I just want to say, thank you. Keep going on this journey with me. We're going to turn this into a book and I'm really excited for this season.

Until next time, make today the absolute best day of your life.
